I am new to the list (although I have read through most, if not all of it) but NOT new to the book.? I love the book.? I do have a few questions upon implementation in my classroom.? 
1. If spending 6-8 weeks on each reading strategy, how do you accomplish all of the strategies each year?? Or should each grade level only focus on certain strategies?
2. Having said that, how much can we expect from the 5/6 year old Kindergarten kids?? How high should we raise the bar?? Does anyone out there have experience with the K kids?
